One hundred seventy-five years ago tonight the Medford brig Pilgrim–immortalized by Richard Henry Dana, Jr., near midnight under a moon just past full, caught fire in the Gulf of Mexico. She was bound for New Orleans from Thomaston, Maine with a cargo of lime.

Vietnam Memorial
The movable Vietnam Memorial wall will be coming to Santa Barbara and will be at 300 E. Cabrillo Blvd. from October 12-17th. Please come down to say hello to the “guardians of the wall” and view this special homage to the fallen men and women from the Vietnam War.
