Sponsored by Southern California Artists Painting for the Environment (SCAPE)

The Southern California Artists Painting for the Environment (SCAPE) and the Santa Barbara Maritime Museum (SBMM) are cohosting Images of Our Maritime Community, an exhibit and sale of fine art on Wednesday and Thursday, July 24 & 25. This event will feature the work of more than 150 artists and their views of our ocean, coastal vistas and Santa Barbara’s maritime life and benefit SBMM. Artwork may be viewed and purchased online at sbmm.org/public-events/scape beginning July 1, 2019. Additional artwork will be available at the show.

SCAPE was founded in 2002 and has grown to over 200 members, a diverse group including nationally known and local artists, students, patrons and gallery owners. Membership is open year-round to everyone who wants to participate. Our goals are to have exhibitions to help raise money to protect open spaces, to increase public awareness of environmental and conservation issues, to promote camaraderie and provide education for artists. We have 2 or 3 juried exhibits every year. To date over $100,000 has been raised to benefit local non-profit beneficiaries including the Santa Barbara Botanic Garden, Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History, Channelkeeper, and Heal the Ocean, among others.

Maybe there's a happy little waterfall happening over here. A little happy sunlight shining through there. Take your time. Speed will come later. God gave you this gift of imagination. Use it. Once you learn the technique, ohhh! Turn you loose on the world; you become a tiger. Work on one thing at a time.
