Marine Biologist, Educator and Naturalist Holly S. Lohuis will share stories and images from around the world on why it is critical we understand both the ocean’s influence on us and our influence on the ocean. In her presentation, Holly will discuss tangible solutions to the solvable problems threatening the health of our water planet. Her inspirational talk will remind us that small actions can lead to big changes and that we need to be the motivating force to strive for more ocean education, both locally and around the world.

In a time when we are witnessing and documenting global changes at an alarming rate, we need to encourage our future leaders to explore their connections in the natural world and thus inspire appreciation for the interdependence of the diversity of life that makes our planet habitable.

Through Holly’s twenty-eight-year career as a marine educator she has worked for a variety of organizations including: Jean-Michel Cousteau’s Ocean Futures Society, Santa Barbara Maritime Museum’s Ocean Connections and Marine Science, Island Packers-Naturalist on deck to the Channel Islands National Park, and the Ritz-Carlton Bacara’s Jean-Michel Cousteau Ambassadors of the Environment program.  Throughout the work she does, Holly shares important ecological facts on why ocean health is critical for the sustainability of our water planet.  Holly hopes to empower us all, especially the generations to come, to be stewards of our seas.

Maybe there's a happy little waterfall happening over here. A little happy sunlight shining through there. Take your time. Speed will come later. God gave you this gift of imagination. Use it. Once you learn the technique, ohhh! Turn you loose on the world; you become a tiger. Work on one thing at a time.
