Toot Toot Tugboat Model

Description

This radio-controlled, electrically-powered model tugboat was built by Dwight Brooks in 1978. Built to popular plans for model tugs, Dwight doubled its size and added radio-controlled bells, horns, sirens, a water cannon, and interior and exterior lighting. The interior is finely detailed, even in places not visible from outside the model. Toot-Toot is built using plank-on-frame construction with plywood keel and bulkheads and balsa planking. The hull is fiberglassed inside end out. The power system includes two car batteries, one 6v and one 12v, custom water-cooled speed controller, motor from a aircraft fuel pump, also water cooled and a 3:1 reduction gearbox.
