Honor Greg Gorga with a Special Donation
In celebration of Greg Gorga’s remarkable 18-year legacy as Executive Director of the Santa Barbara Maritime Museum, we invite you to make a gift in his honor to support the continued preservation of the Point Conception First Order Fresnel Lens—a defining symbol of the museum and its mission.
A Legacy of Vision and Impact
Since joining SBMM in 2007, Greg has transformed the museum into a nationally recognized institution and a vital part of the Santa Barbara community. Under his leadership, SBMM:
- Installed the iconic Point Conception Fresnel Lens, one of the most important maritime artifacts on the West Coast.
- Achieved accreditation from the American Alliance of Museums—a prestigious distinction earned by only 3% of U.S. museums.
- Secured the museum’s long-term home through the successful buyout of its lease.
- Expanded educational programs serving thousands of youth each year.
Celebrating Greg’s Retirement in December 2025
As Greg prepares for retirement, we reflect on a tenure defined by innovation, community engagement, and a deep commitment to maritime heritage. His leadership has anchored SBMM as a center of education, exploration, and inspiration.
