The Santa Barbara Maritime Museum is dedicated to protecting your privacy. The museum does not sell, share, rent, trade, swap, or otherwise disclose customer/donor/volunteer/staff information to any outside party. SBMM also has a policy of not sending mail on behalf of other organizations.

You have the right to opt out from the museum’s mail/email list by verbal or written request at any time. By using this website, sbmm.org, you hereby consent to SBMM’s privacy policy and agree to its terms.

The Santa Barbara Maritime Museum is committed to protecting the privacy and confidentiality of its members and donors. SBMM values the trust you place in us by giving to the organization and takes very seriously the responsibility to safeguard the integrity of the information provided.

SBMM has no control over and assumes no responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party sites or services.

Children’s Privacy

SBMM’s website, sbmm.org, does not address anyone under the age of 18 ("children").

SBMM does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from anyone under the age of 18. If you are a parent or guardian, and you are aware that your children have provided SBMM with personal data, please contact SBMM. If SBMM becomes aware that it has collected personal data from children without verification of parental consent, SBMM takes steps to remove that information from its servers.

Social Media Policy

The Santa Barbara Maritime Museum welcomes dialogue with the public. Please be aware that all comments on SBMM’s social media sites and channels are subject to public disclosure laws and will be screened periodically for the following:

  • Obscene or explicit comments.
  • Hateful or mean-spirited comments.
  • Personal attacks, insults, or threatening language.

The opinions expressed by visitors to SBMM’s social sites and channels are not the comments of the Santa Barbara Maritime Museum and do not reflect the official views and positions of the Santa Barbara Maritime Museum.

Photography/Videography Release

In entering the museum, guest(s) agree to participate in the documentation of any performance, presentation, or other activity associated with the Santa Barbara Maritime Museum. Guest(s) to the museum authorize SBMM to record, re-record, and photograph their likeness, performance, voice, and artwork. SBMM may edit and adapt the guest(s)’s participation as it deems appropriate. Unless staff are notified by the guest(s). SBMM guest(s) waive the right to inspect or approve the photographs, footage, artwork, or other materials owned by SBMM before they may be duplicated, distributed, broadcast, exhibited, or used.
