On the second Thursday of each month, SBMM members are invited to go behind the scenes and delve deeper into Santa Barbara’s maritime history and heritage. We bring the museum outside to our beautiful water-front patio with a themed cocktail reception and pop-up exhibition featuring a different artifact from our collection each month.
This edition of Curated Cocktails spotlights the intriguing model Loughead F-1 seaplane, currently on view in the museum. Learn more about this historic aircraft—designed by the Loughhead brothers and first flown in 1918—by exploring a sample section of the wing and an interplane strut from the 1/4-scale model. President of the Santa Barbara Radio Control Modelers association Bill Hallier will be on hand to illuminate the seaplane’s history and the art of model-building.
Free for Navigators Circle members. RSVP to Martha Donelan at mdonelan@sbmm.org.
$20 for general members.
This event is sponsored by Plains All American.
