We’re excited to invite you to Museum on the Move, part of a series of special experiences that takes the Santa Barbara Maritime Museum beyond its walls.

Created exclusively for Navigator Circle members at the Officer Level ($1,500+) and above, Museum on the Move offers access to places, people, and experiences that are not always available to the general public. Throughout the year, members will be invited to enjoy unique outings, behind-the-scenes opportunities, and special adventures celebrating our region’s maritime history and natural environment.

Located near Point Conception, the more than 24,000-acre preserve protects one of Southern California’s last great stretches of wild coast and serves as a living laboratory for conservation, research, education, and innovation. The preserve is generally closed to the public except for approved research, educational, and guided activities, making this a rare opportunity to experience an extraordinary landscape firsthand.

SBMM Naturalists will guide us through the preserve and share insights into its remarkable biodiversity, ongoing restoration and stewardship work, and the science helping shape the future of conservation along the California coast.

Space is limited and advance reservations are required.

To help protect the preserve and limit vehicle traffic, our group will travel together by minibus, in accordance with the Dangermond Preserve’s request to minimize the number of cars entering the property. The cost to attend is $100 per person, which helps cover round-trip transportation and the naturalists who will guide our visit.

To RSVP, ask accessibility questions, or learn more about upgrading your membership to enjoy Museum on the Move experiences, please contact Emily Duncan, Director of Development, at eduncan@sbmm.org or 805-456-8744.

We hope you’ll join us for this memorable opportunity to experience one of California’s most important protected coastal landscapes.

Thank you for your continued support of the Santa Barbara Maritime Museum. We look forward to exploring with you during our first Museum on the Move adventure!
